“time past in time present” is a project that brings together Croatian and Austrian artists who deal with the topic of the uncertainty of memory. The Austrian artists and members of the MAERZ artists’ association Petra Fohringer and Stefan Mittlböck-Jungwirth-Fohringer initiated this project together with the Croatian artist Hassan Abdelghani and the curator Paola Orlic with the idea of showing artistic positions on the subject of “memories” in an exhibition and asking how they influence our daily lives, our political attitudes or our artistic practice. The artistic works in the exhibition raise the question of true and traditional memories, of the influence and manipulation of memory, both that of the individual and that of the collective.
